Use your mouse to click on objects and locations on the screen to progress through the game.
When your cursor is a white arrow icon then you are free to make a move. When your cursor is a spinning red arrow then you have to wait. When your cursor is a hand icon then the object or location you are pointing to is click able.
Sometimes there are time based puzzles where you have to click quickly before an enemy makes it's move!
